WITH THREE FEET STUPA

1. What is the different of this small Stupa with the twenty-two feet Stupa here at Philippines Karma Kagyu Buddhist Society?
The different of the Stupas that was build by Philippine Karma Kagyu Buddhist Society on the month of May 1999 and the one that we are building now is just the size. The former one is 23 feet high and the later is just 3 feet high.
2. How do people accumulate merits through the use of this small Stupa? Is the merit as same as the big Stupa?
One way for people to accumulate merit is by sponsoring the project of Stupa. How great is the merit by doing this virtue action is depend on your faith and devotion to the Three Jewels-Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
3. What should we do in order to accumulate merits through this small Stupa? Is there any specific technique in making offerings to Stupa?
Sponsoring the project of building Stupa helps us in accumulating good merits. Likewise, if one can worship to the Stupa-the symbol of the concentrated form of all the Buddhas of the past, present and future will accumulate immeasurable merits too.
4. Is this small Stupa movable? When we move the Stupa, will this cause any negative actions?
Yes, it can be movable. This 3 feet Stupa is make for the comfortably of Dharma practitioners who wishes to accumulate merit through it. But moving this Stupa and causing negative actions are depending on our mind and attitude. If one moves the Stupa with disrespect, of course, will result to negative effects.
5. If one do not have enough space for circumambulating the Stupa, what should we do to accumulate merits?
If there is not enough space to circumambulate the Stupa, one can worship the Stupa or making prostration to it.
6. What prayer or Mantra is recommendable for the Dharma practitioners to offer to Stupa?
There are many Mantras in Buddhism; it is advisable to offer the one that you are practicing. For example if you are practicing Chenrezig, then you can offer the Six Syllable Mantra " OM MA NI PAD ME HUNG", likewise, if you are practicing the Guru Padmasambhava, then you can offer his Mantra to the Stupa.
7. Do we need a Lama to do prayer before installing a Stupa for our house?
This depends on one's need. If one thinks that there is a necessity, it's fine to invite Lamas to do a prayer to the Stupa before installing it at home.
8. If accidentally causing damage to this three feet Stupa, what should we do?
It depends on the conditions. As long as it is not done by disrespectful mind, it is not necessary to be worried.
9. Is it good merit to sponsor the building of Stupa project? What are the merits we can get?
Yes, the merit of sponsoring a Stupa is immeasurable. We have compiled the teachings of different masters into a booklet entitled "Little White Stupa" on April 1999. It is said that building a stupa will also bring us the fruition of Buddhahood, which is the ultimate liberation, in the future. For the meantime, it's blessing can bring us the happiness, peace, harmony and prosperity.
10.If the colors of the Stupa fade out, can we repaint the Stupa? Can we do the repainting ourselves or should Lamas do it?
To present the respect to the representation of Three Jewels-Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, we have to repaint the Stupa when it's colors faded away. But Lamas should not the one in doing this work.
11. What are the objects to be putted inside the Stupa if we wish to sponsor one for our home? If we do not have the relic of the Lama, is it all right for a Stupa without holy things inside?
While building the Stupa, many holy things of Buddhism like Mantra, Mandala, etc. are putted inside. These materials are provided by Philippine Karma Kagyu Buddhist Society, Inc. as one sponsor of Stupa. If one do not have the relic of Lama to put in the Stupa, then it is not necessary.
12. Is it advisable to clean the Stupa with water? How about the other cleansing detergents?
When this 3 feet Stupa is cover with dust, one can clean it either by using water or not. Detergent can also be used. There is no need to worry by doing this might cause negativity.
