Short Biography of Lama Karma Kunzang


Lama Karma Kunzang was born to a wealthy family in Eastern Tibet (known as Sichuan, China). On his early age, he saw many disharmonies of life which make him realized that mundane happiness is so temporal, now you gain one then you loss all. Even famous actors and actresses who are often well dressed can not surpass the respect of people to Buddhist monk. Beauty on outer appearance does not last long since this world is impermanent. No one escape old age, sickness and death. If I am going to remain in this kind of living, he will surely not to have truth and lasting happiness. That's why he decided to become monk.

Because all his family patronized Karma Kagyu, Lama Karma Kunzang decided to travel to India to take vows under those supreme heads of Karma Kagyu. In 1993, he travels to India alone by walking at day and sleeping at night. His only food for surviving is tsampa and water. When reach the boarder of Nepal, he was caught by Nepali soldier and kept in prison for one week because of insufficient immigration papers. He was released through the help of Tibetan Exiled Government. He continuous his journey and finally reached Sherab Ling in India. He took his vow under His Eminence the 12th Tai Situ Rinpoche. He completed his three years three months and three days retreat at Lawa of Jamgon Rinpoche's monastery and become a certified Lama.

Through the request of Lama Tenzin Dorje, general secretary of 3th Jamgon Rinpoche, Lama Karma Kunzang agrees to come to Philippines to help those sentient beings who need Buddhist guidance and blessings of Three Jewels. In 1999, he arrived Manila and pursuit his sacred work.
